Celebrating Workforce Development Month in Lake County

As September comes to a close, I want to recognize the dedicated professionals of Lake County Workforce Development who carry out this important work every day.

Throughout Workforce Development Month, staff shared their “why”—what brought them to this work, what keeps them committed, and what serving the people and businesses of Lake County means to them. Workforce Development Board members also shared why they choose to support this important work.

This month also brought a special recognition for Jeff Hubert, Business Services Manager, who was named a Workforce Hero by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals. Congratulations, Jeff!

At its heart, workforce development is about people, opportunity, and connection. Thank you to the Workforce Development staff and the many service partners, employers, community organizations, and supporters who help create opportunities throughout Lake County.

Workforce Development Month may be September, but this work happens every day.

Mindful Monday | Reset. Regulate. Show Up Well. 🌿

Before you rush into the week, check in with yourself.

How are you arriving today, mentally, emotionally, and physically?

Sometimes productivity doesn’t require pushing harder. It requires a moment to breathe, regulate, and reset.

A few intentional pauses throughout the workday can help us return with greater clarity, presence, and capacity for what matters.

As Chair of the Lake County Workforce Development Board, I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand the impact our Board has on strengthening our workforce ecosystem, supporting employers, and expanding opportunities for job seekers across our community. This role is central to that mission.

In this short video, I'll walk you through a simple grounding reset you can use anywhere, at your desk, before a hard conversation, or in the quiet minutes between one thing and the next. It's a technique drawn from my coaching practice: shifting your perspective just enough to find steadier footing.
