This past weekend, our JROTC cadets proudly attended JCLC (JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge), where they put their leadership, teamwork, and resilience to the test!
Throughout the event, cadets participated in a variety of challenging and exciting activities, building confidence, strengthening friendships, and developing skills that will serve them well both in and out of uniform.
We are incredibly proud of their dedication, positive attitude, and commitment to excellence. They represented our program with honor and professionalism every step of the way!
Please join us in congratulating these outstanding cadets on a successful JCLC experience!

Talk about a power morning! Five of our incredible incoming seniors from the MTS Public Safety program had the amazing opportunity to attend the Blount County Junior Fire Academy at Southeastern School this week.
Before they even hit their lunch break today, these young ladies were absolutely crushing it. They:
Rescued a baby from the Confined Space Training trailer (and yes, it is pitch black in there once those doors shut!)
Tackled the pressure of handling a fire hose.
Stepped into the driver’s seat of a firetruck simulator.
We are so proud of their grit, teamwork, and dedication. Good job “Jake, Spooky, Hitch, Moose, & Ben”

We had an amazing night celebrating the Senior Class of 2026! Our goal as a school is to see our students employed, enrolled or enlisted and, based on all of the honors bestowed on this group of seniors, our mission was accomplished!

Our Senior Awards Program culminated with Douglas Senior Uriel Rivera being selected as the winner of the Director’s Award as the school’s top student and Mr. James McKinzie being named Teacher of the Year.

Uriel has been incredibly involved in MTS’ medical prep program for three years where he has been a state gold medalist in competition. He is also in the top 10% academically at Douglas High School and has already completed an associates degree while in high school. Uriel will attend Rutgers University in the fall with future plans to one day attend medical school to become a physician.

MTS was also excited to announce Mechatronics instructor James McKenzie as Teacher of the Year. He was selected by his fellow instructors for the award. Mr. McKenzie came to MTS two years ago after previously teaching for many years at Wallace State Community College. Mr. McKenzie has already made a huge positive impact on our school, and we are thrilled to have him as part of our MTS family!

Congrats and best wishes to the Senior Class of 2026! You have been an outstanding class and thank you for the way you have represented Marshall Technical School!
