Stories of Fentanyl sales, overdose and death are getting closer to home and keeping our Gunter Tigers safe is of utmost importance to Gunter ISD. Knowledge is power, so GISD Police Chief, Jason Satre, reached out to the District Attorney's office to present, "One Pill Kills" to our students in grades 7-12.
The presentation was very informative and straight forward. The presentation included points on how the drug was coming into the states and why people might be buying them. They spoke about the danger and how just a tiny amount can affect your respiratory system, which can eventually cause death. They also mentioned the penalties for distributing the drug.
What everyone should know is the people manufacturing Fentanyl are creating pills that look like normal, everyday medications that we buy over the counter. Unfortunately, people who never intended to take the drug are being tricked into taking it, which may result in death.
The bottom line and the biggest factor the students can take away from the presentation is that they should ONLY take medications that have come from their parents, a doctor, or a pharmacy.
