Last week, we hosted 72 5th graders to engage, interact with, and learn from our undergraduates and faculty.

“I want to be an engineer!” was stated throughout the afternoon along with excitement from curious students. We may have inspired a few future engineers!

This week, Assistant Director Laurel Fisher was awarded the Excellence in Advising-Primary Role Advisor Certificate of Merit for NACADA Region 10. This honor is a true reflection of Laurel’s commitment to the success of each student in our program. Upon receiving the award, Laurel shared, “As a student at , I was grateful to have excellent mentors and advisors. Now, it’s exciting and rewarding to be able to do the same for our Partnership Program students.”

With the combination of carbon fiber and 3D printed Ti-6-4 titanium, our students are working with the , , , , and to design and fabricated the world’s most accessible gravel grinder for the adaptive community.

Last week, our students had the opportunity to collaborate with and design 3D printed titanium lugs produced for the recumbent hand-pedal bike project that will be donated to the over the summer for iterative design review.

Utilizing advanced processes such as selective laser sintering, or SLS, are some of the incredible opportunities that our undergraduate students get real-world and hands-on with.

Did you know it’s EWeek? Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers NSPE in 1951, EWeek (February 19–25, 2023) is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers.

Our program celebrates our engineering and computer science students, faculty, and staff daily, but especially during Engineers Week. The Partnership Program is supportive of all who
want to join in the fun and challenge of engineering or computer science, and the incredible opportunities that come with these degrees!

We have a robust outreach effort to expose middle school students to STEM topics each summer with a 6-week program led by Dr. Lauren Cooper. Engineers and future engineers - we support you!

Western Athletics is joining forces with the Rady School of Computer Science & Engineering to provide a unique summer camp opportunity to youth in the Gunnison Valley! This new state-licensed camp will take place on the Western Colorado University campus and is specially designed for children ages 5-12. Junior Mountaineers combines athletics & physical activities with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) to create a summer full of adventures and learning. Each week of camp will have a different theme that the various STEAM activities are based around in addition to the regularly scheduled weekly activities.
