Lightbearer's Learning Club is a Homeschooling Co-op / Meet-Up Organizer in Gulfport Florida. We are a supportive community of homeschooling or hybrid schooling families that play and learn cooperatively. Our mission is to spread light and joy while empowering families to take on the challenges of being our children's primary educators. We strive for academic excellence while building life skills
and community connections. We believe that YOU as purposeful parents are your child's best teachers. We use this page to encourage and connect families who want to live a joy led life! We share local children's events, meetups with various homeschool groups, classes, playdates, beach days, camps, and interesting extracurriculars. These meetups are a great opportunity to gain and share curriculum/program/resource knowledge. Let us know if you have an event you would like to share! We are here to spread light and bring people together. Our intention is to facilitate a supportive social community that brings people together. We explore learning opportunities with an emphasizes on individualism, responsibility, and the importance of each member's contribution. We are relaxed, flexible and play a lot! CO-OP
As a true Co-Op LLC Families meet regularly with each-other and other homeschool groups. Lightbearer families all have regular sharing/teaching opportunities. We all have valueable gifts and so much innate knowledge to share. Adults and children have the opportunity to teach and share their skills and strengths in a relaxed flexible environment. Let us know your expertise! We participate in opportunities that teach all ages together allowing the youngest to learn by example while encouraging the more advanced students to develop leadership skills. Our student led lesson and curriculum plans provide opportunity for natural discoveries and our schedules always allow for spontaneous learning. We have members that excel in all subjects at various levels. As a group we tend to focus on art, reading, math, science, and all that we can learn from nature. Our meeting places are mostly outdoors. We love parks, preserves, beaches... members in the Gulfport area may host events/class anytime. We may use the city recreation center or local church for indoor meeting space. We also utilize existing services and classes at the library, museum, nature center, and rec centers. This is not a daycare or drop-off program. This is an opportunity to serve your community and grow your network. We focus our current programming on learning about creating our portfolios for evaluation (required by the state annually). Our portfolios are designed, compiled, and presented by the student. This learning model provides the opportunity for students to gain confidence as they record and present their accomplishments. This is a flexible model that allows families to choose their level of participation and subjects of interest. Let us know how we can support you and what your interests are!
