Welcome, Mr. McDonald!
We are excited to announce the newest addition to our team of directors, Mr. Bryce McDonald. Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, Mr. McDonald will serve as one of our middle school directors as well as our percussion director.
Welcome to the Hurricane Family, Mr. McDonald!
“Greetings! My name is Bryce McDonald, and I am from Richton, Mississippi. I attended and obtained my Associates Degree from Jones College (JCJC) and marched in the Maroon Typhoon from 2018 to 2020, where also, in 2020, I served as the Battery and Snareline section leader. I also participated in the Jones College Percussion Ensemble, Concert Bands and Jones Concert Choir. I recently earned my Bachelor’s of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi where I studied under Dr. John Wooton. During my time at USM, I was a member of the percussion studio and also performed with the Southern Miss Percussion Ensemble, Southern Miss Percussion Chamber Ensembles, Southern Miss African Drum Ensemble with Alkebulan Music Philosophy Ensemble, Southern Miss Latin Ensembles, USM Concert Bands, the University Symphony Orchestra, the Southern Miss Steel Pan Orchestra (SoMiSPO), Southern Miss Drum and Fife Corps, and the Pride of Mississippi Marching Band Drumline, where I marched bass drum for 1 year, and snare drum for 2. I’ve taught at multiple high schools for 5 years as a percussion technician, spanning from middle school to collegiate level. Those schools include Richton High School, South Jones High School, Northeast Jones High School, and Jones College. I look forward to joining a phenomenal team of directors, educators and staff on the coast, and I’m so excited to educate the next generation of musicians!”
