Abstract

Freediving is an ancient activity dating back to Ancient Greece, where divers ventured into the abyss in search of pearls. Today, freediving is rapidly evolving, serving not only as a sport but also as a means to cultivate mindfulness, relaxation, and mental resilience. It has also garnered the interest of scientists as a valuable tool for conducting underwater research. Lack of experience in freediving techniques limits the capabilities of underwater explorers.

Alexey Molchanov, a 34-time freediving world record holder, will impart his expertise in the physiology of freediving. He will discuss breath control and breath-hold dry techniques, provide practical tools to be tested and applied by the audience, and share his personal insights into the symbiotic relationship between science and freediving. By the end of the seminar, you will gain insights into the most effective methods for lung training and discover the optimal breathing techniques with health benefits.

Training towards your goal requires discipline to improve your technique and fitness, together with mental preparation, so you can reach your potential. The measures taken to keep athletes safe, and the dedication of the safety divers during competitions like Vertical Blue are exemplary for any freediving discipline, including Scientific Freediving!
