Gulf Coast Jujutsu We are a martial art school training in classic Japanese Jujutsu, Hapkido, Aikido, Tai Chi, and Weapons. Martial Arts School

We focus purely on self-defense rather than sport, developing street-proven defensive skills, and manage to have a LOT of fun in the process.

Tonight was extra fun.
Due to your favorite sensei’s current mild mobility issues, we did some weapon work.
Kids worked with staffs/walking sticks for defense vs 2, 4, and no-legged threats.
Seniors did knife work. Specifically we worked on deflecting a weapon attack and putting our blades into important structural areas, major muscles, and major blood vessels (and a few other key places) until a threat ceases to be, in fact, a threat.

Knife work is gruesome business and anyone who sugar coats it is doing you a disservice. The results, even when totally justified, can look very bad to a jury as well. But if a knife is what you have and using it is the only chance you have to go home whole (I or at all)… with us you’ll at least have that skill.

Hot summer night, but that didn’t stop us!

Tonight we worked on strategies to get in on an assailant rapidly. Particularly, we did entries from the “monkey dance” where someone is belly to belly with you, arms down, very dangerous.

Stay calm, stay alert, walk away when you can, be sufficiently violent when you can’t.

Old style Japanese Jujutsu and old style Hapkido are all about dynamic self defense.

Oh, and tonight’s class had ages from 15 to mid 60s. All fully participating. Some with mobility issues, some just worn out fr work, and even my old, broken down carcass slamming and being slammed.

NO KIDS CLASS Thursday June 25!

While we try to keep class interruptions to a minimum, as the Samurai were fond of saying, “Sometimes Stuff Happens.” 🤷🏼‍♂️ 🥋

Small classes get special practice. 🥋

We covered disarming a perp brandishing a handgun (always a dicey and terrifyingly dangerous proposition BUT where it’s an option, it beats hot lead in your vitals).
And, and, AND…
We did some bonus work: how to prevent a perp from taking YOUR weapon! Hey, we’re in a Constitutional Carry state. 😉 This is quite advanced but they got it. At the end, Bella (very petite young lady in attached photos) kept control of her (inert) pistol no matter who tried to take it! And she was stripping pistols out of wielders’ hands in an eye-blink! John (teen lad also pictured) was doing just as well.

With us you won’t get cute trophies. What you get instead are Real-World, Street-Proven self-defense techniques for you!
All in a fun, friendly, decidedly nerdy atmosphere of mutual respect. We’re so really affordable too!

Toss all that stress away, just like the poor sucker that tries you. Jujutsu is not only great for self defense, but it’s a FANTASTIC stress reliever, and you get fitter, as well; you win!
At Gulf Coast Jujutsu, you’ll learn realistic self defense and leave feeling better, all around.
We’re located at 7369 Alamo Circle, Gulf Shores, AL.
Classes are held on Tuesday & Thursday:
Juniors (ages 6-13), 6:30 PM-7:30 PM.
Seniors (ages 14 and up), 7:30 PM-8:30 PM.
