The position of the Block Nurse in the perioperative setting is a breakthrough role in the nursing profession. It is a challenging and exciting specialty in which the nurse is directly contributing to a procedure that changes a patient’s surgical perspective. It is through the compassion, critical thinking, advocation, and strong procedural performance that the Block Nurse can not only be an added bonus to the Regional Anesthesia Team, but also an IRREPLACEABLE part.
