Watched the first 3 episodes of Sh**un last night.Reminded me of when the original aired in 1980-I was green belt in Kwanmukan at the time and we would end class early those nights and go over to watch it a local pub. It piqued my interest in the Samurai which I was able to expand on under the tutelage of Dr. Sadeo Kotaka a few years later at Ohio State University in the study of Kogen Itto Ryu founded in the year 832. His ancestors fought with Ieyasu Tokugawa -Toranaga in the show-at the battle of Sekigahara.He had a katana that one of his kin had carried into battle there and I had the honor of holding it once.Kotaka Sensei estimated its age at 850 years old.
