My dear friends have a beautiful tradition: bringing each grandchild on a meaningful journey somewhere in the world.

About 4 years ago, the tradition launched with their eldest grandchild. I was asked to build an experience that was immersive, experiential, and connected to local culture and people, in a way that would allow for new insights and perspectives and fun! Another family from my school joined in; there were eight of us.

We traveled in Guatemala - it was incredible and life changing to meet and share time with local families, learn about the ways people live, work, and engage too in community service, as we worked with local youth at a small school.

Travel is such a powerful means to learn about oneself and the world, to awaken wonder, curiosity and deepen understadining. Not to mention to have incredible shared moments, that bring lifelong memories and traditions.

Here we are again.
10 - 18 April 2027, we plan to travel to Costa Rica - in partnership with Global Family Travels.

A question I have asked each year to my students.

Asking around, I hear from adults and youth who give all sorts of fun answers.

Join me Saturday, 19 June online for hands-on science experiment to discover the reason and explore the science behind this wondrous phenomenon. (3 to 4 PM EDT / -4GMT)

Materials to have on hand:

a coffee filter
3 T rubbing alcohol
a few green leaves from deciduous trees (i.e maple, birch, oak, …) *save these in refrigerator until Saturday, wrapped in damp paper towel, perhaps*
a few leaves that have already turned color
a plastic cup
4 pencils or dowels, at least 3” long

Hello AMAZING worldschooling families!

I am a mom of 27 + 29 yo and so, we are not ourselves world schooling - however, I am an educator and co-founder of CT Experiential Learning Center. I am so very interested to be part of a worldschooling hub, bringing engaging and personalized learning, project based, 1:1 and small group, inquiry, exploration, curiosity, ... math, writers' workshop, science investigation, place-based leaning galore!
