Furious vs Curious

Having been a teacher for many years, I know first-hand how difficult it is to be restrained and resilient when confronted with challenging behaviour.

It demands huge amounts of self-control and a truck loadda love!

Part of the challenge is that it can be hard to see the vulnerability of a child in the midst of a difficult exchange.

While we may not have control over what children say to us, we have control over what we say to them in response.

Learn to be curious, rather than furious.
What might the child be saying through the behaviour?
What might the child need from you?

Parenting effectively is about understanding a child's brain development, knowing what development stages your child is at,
as well as understanding what is happening during certain situations within the brain.

It's about using strategies that impact in the moment, to make parenting easier, along with the strategies that will equip our children to become happy, confident and resilient for the rest of their lives.

We do not live in the same world our parents did and we certainly cannot use the same strategies our parents used.
