We had a fantastic Alumni Weekend at ASL! The 5k could not have taken place on a more beautiful day. After the 5k, the alumni joined in planting a white dogwood tree on campus in memorial of Jeremy Burnside, ’04. Later that evening, the alumni gathered for a mixer where they recognized Professor Tom Scott, Dean Sandy McGlothlin, former Alumni President Rachel Wolfe, and their first-ever alumnus of the year, Jeremy Burnside. The community at ASL is truly what makes it unique. Thank you to all who came out!

We are pleased to continue our monthly initiative, ASL's Unsung Hero of the month. This initiative is meant to recognize the fantastic people who collectively serve as the backbone of the school. Our ASL Unsung Hero for October is Tonya Moore. Mrs. Moore works in our Admissions Office, and she is often the first contact prospective students have with ASL. Her reach extends beyond Admissions as she is a constant volunteer in supporting many other initiatives at the school.

In celebration of Black History Month ASL will be hosting two events. The Dean of ASL, Justice Elizabeth McClanahan, will host a luncheon this Valentine's Day at 12:30. On Wednesday, February 26th, Doris H. Causey, Esq., will give a lecture drawing upon her rich experiences as an attorney focusing on civil litigation, family law, and poverty law among other areas. She was the first African American President of the Virginia State Bar and was recently awarded the Hill-Tucker Public Service Award. Please celebrate with us at ASL for both of these events.
