Fashion designer gives children glimpse of fashion world

Guethy Danjoint shared 20 years of experience and talent with children learning about fashion design during the Sassy Fashionista Academy, a Child Youth and Schools Services SKIES Unlimited class from July 30 to Aug. 3.
Children ages 6 and up learned to sew, design and create their own clothing fashion at Maholic Child Development Center at Fort Bragg.
The week-long class ended with the students modeling their designs during a fashion show, Aug. 3.
Danjoint, a native of Haiti, found her passion for fashion design early in life. Both her parents and other Family members were seamstresses.

Welcome to Guethy’s Academy Of Arts We offer: Summer camp, Group classes, Private lessons, B-Day Parties , sewing group with wine, after School group and Embroidery classes.

Classes are ongoing.

Ages 6 year old & up, adults are welcome.

We provide different projects for each sessions . No sewing experience is required, sewing machines and supplies are provided. Students may bring their own fabric and other materials depending on the project , a light snack will be provided.

- Summer camp Classes meet five times a Week, $220, 15 hrs (3hr/class, see schedule flier)
- Sewing $36, 2hr/class (included sewing kit & machine use)
- Private lesson $45, 2 hrs /class (Personal sewing machines are welcome .
- Sewing Club: $136 meet four times a Month 2 hr./class .
- Fashion Design Club: $136 meet four times a Month 2hr./class ( supplies are provided, student(s) may bring some of materials)
- Saturdays (are available upon request)

WE REQUIRE A 24 HOUR NOTICE TO CANCEL A CLASS!
you may receive a full refund or apply that cost to a future class. Classes may be cancelled or rescheduled at the teacher’s choice if so, a full refund or apply that cost to a future class.

Sewing Class

Sewing is a skill that will last for a lifetime. It will boost your child’s creativity; develop patience, and problem solving skills. In this class, students will learn at their own pace while we help them achieve their sewing skills.
The sewing class is a perfect opportunity for student who wants to explore the world of sewing in a fun, creative, positive and educational environment. Students will learn the basics of sewing skills while creating beautiful projects. They will also learn about safety tips, different kind of techniques, hand stitches, seams, how to sew hemlines and buttons, trouble shooting, and how to thread the machine, etc. Each class offers new and different projects. Students are welcome to attend every session to expand their knowledge and confidence.

Fashion Design

This class is designed for students who have an interest in Fashion Design and Styling. The objective of this class is to provide a fun and self-expressing learning environment for students to work together and have hands-on experience to create a fashion collection. They will learn the basics of Fashion Design and how to develop their inspiration and ideas to create a theme board, style book, drawing clothing and learn how to use a color palette, texture, trims, embellishment, sketching the model or croquis through various techniques. This class will assist your child in taking the first step into the Fashion Industry. At the end of the course, the students will have an opportunity to model their creation.
