South Lake FFA had a blast at this year's district forestry competition. Junior chapter team members included Gretchen Faraci, Parker Kruse, Nathan Quintana and Sarah Burkett. Gretchen Faraci Placed third in Dendrology. South Lake Senior Team B placed second in the district competition. Team members include Emily Burkett, Emily Brown, Kyle Pridgen and Ashton Clark. Emily Brown placed second in Timber Cruising and Compass and Pacing. South Lake Team A placed first in the district and will be going to the state competition. Team Members include Katie Hernandez, Kyle Garner, Morghan Neuhofer and Piper Cox. Piper Cox received third place in General Knowledge. Morghan Neuhofer placed second in General Knowledge and Tool Identification. Kyle Garner placed first in General Knowledge, Dendrology and Tool Identification. Katie Hernandez placed third in Tool Identification, second in Dendrology and first in Timber Cruising.

We would like to extend an additional thanks to the Silver Springs Park for hosting us and the foresters who aided in the contest. Congratulations to our competitors everyone did a great job today! Thanks also goes to our advisor Mr. Chris Clausen for his continuous support for our program. And a special shout out to South Lake administration for cooperating with us and our frequent absences from school.

Ag Sales Team took Indy by storm, we ranked as a silver team. Team members include Katie Hernandez, Kyle Garner, Devyn Decker, and Maryn Neuhofer. Individual rankings include: Devyn Decker receiving gold, Katie Hernandez receiving Silver and Mary and Kyle Garner receiving Bronze. Kyle Garner represented the state of Florida by also serving as a National Delegate. Thank you National FFA!

Tonight we will witness the talent acts and skits of some of our FFA members, have our annual cake auction, and crown this year's FFA Sweetheart and Beau! Admission is $2

So glad we were blessed with the opportunity to send two of our officers to the Florida Outdoor Adventures and Florida Leadership Adventures. Kyle Garner and Katie Hernandez were a great representation of South Lake and won first on their state officer team. In addition both served on the FOA Banquet committee. Kyle received Mr. FOA/FLA, best singer and best lipsinc singer. Katie was able to be one or the 5 leaders for the last night. BE BOLD!
