Lake Minneola High School trained another 27 students for the “You’re Not Alone”program this past Friday. These students spent an entire school day learning about youth mental health and how to help students on our campus find a trusted adult to help. Half of these students were Hope Ambassadors and the other half expressed an interest in the training. We are looking forward to training more 9th and 10th grade student next fall! Lake Minneola High

These girls have been there from the start. Video chatting, masks on, shy 9th graders and then picked up another rock star (gabby) along the way. Hope Ambassadors make such a difference at our school and I am thankful for the tribe we have become!

Lake Minneola High School was selected as of 3 schools in the state of Florida to receive a presentation called The Facts, Your Future, due to our successfully piloting, and building the Hope Ambassador Club. We were honored to be chosen to host this assembly for our juniors as we had the opportunity to listen to some fantastic presenters including members from law enforcement, corrections, Miss Florida, our very own superintendent, along with some additional powerful speakers.
Our teens learned a lot of facts regarding drug use and abuse, and they also heard some very personal stories from our presenters who have had to live through situations that disrupted or claimed the lives of family members due to drugs. At one point our students were so engaged that you could actually hear a pin drop, and that says a lot since we have 500 or so juniors.
I’d say today was a successful day!
