When GCP celebrates 100 days of school…we throw it back 100 years! 💚 Today was one of our most fun…and educational days ...

When GCP celebrates 100 days of school…we throw it back 100 years! 💚 Today was one of our most fun…and educational days yet. In honor of our hundredth day of school earlier this week, today we celebrated like it was 1926! Chapel included an inspection of student’s fingernails, teeth, and behind their ears (to make sure they washed, of course…)😂 Then we moved into an old-fashioned spelling bee. Next up was home economics where we made butter from fresh cream, learned how to fry deer steaks in a cast-iron skillet, enjoyed deer chili over the open fire, and made biscuits from scratch fried in cast-iron. 100% of students agree… This food rocks. 🥰 Our afternoon was spent writing math facts out on our slate tablets with chalk, partnering up with our reading buddies in the sunshine of the courtyard lawn, enjoying a rousing game of three legged stick pony races, and finishing out the day trying to find pennies from the 1920s.
What a blessing it is to share these life skills with our Lions. Huge thanks to all of the GCP staff (and their husbands) who made this day happen. We are truly blessed beyond measure. 💚

When the 100th Day of School coincides with STREAM Class you get ROCKETS! 🚀 Today our GCP students launched baking soda and vinegar rockets with Mrs. Dubois in celebration of the first liquid-fueled rocket launch in 1926 by Robert Goddard.
Students are celebrating reaching our 100th day of school all week with hands-on activities and lessons from 1926. Stay tuned for more history and fun!

In Homesteading this week we learned multiple ways to predict upcoming winter weather…including using local persimmons! Laugh at this folklore/old wives tale or not, GCP students were VERY excited when we opened 7 spoons, 7 knives, and only 1 fork! 😂
