**Building Healthier Families Through Nutrition Education**

Washington/Clarke County EFNEP was excited to partner with Friends of Alpha Women's Resource Center in Jackson, Alabama to offer our first Today’s Mom nutrition education series. This six-week program is designed to support moms and moms-to-be by providing practical nutrition knowledge, meal planning skills, and confidence to make healthy choices for themselves and their families.

We recently completed our first series, and we are so proud of our participant, Emily, for completing the program and taking steps toward creating healthier habits for herself and her growing family.

Emily shared how this experience impacted her:

"Healthy eating had always been something I wanted to improve, however, finding out I was pregnant gave me the extra motivation I needed to start making intentional choices for both my health and my baby's. The challenge was that my life was always on the go, so I often grabbed whatever was quick without thinking much about the nutritional value."

Through Today’s Mom, Emily learned that healthy eating does not have to be complicated or time-consuming. She gained practical skills to prepare simple, nutritious meals that fit her busy lifestyle and learned how to make healthier choices even on the busiest days.

"The nutrition class completely changed the way I think about food. Instead of simply telling me what healthy foods to eat, the class taught me how to turn those foods into simple, realistic meals that fit my busy lifestyle and my family’s needs."

We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with Alpha Women’s Resource Center and provide programs that help families build healthier futures. Congratulations, Emily, on completing Today’s Mom, and thank you for sharing your story!

If you or someone you know would benefit from learning how to make healthier choices for themselves and their families, reach out to our Washington/Clarke County EFNEP Educator Shannon Whigham to learn more about upcoming classes. πŸ’š

Thank You, Ala-Tom RC&D Council! πŸ€

Clarke County 4-H would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Ala-Tom RC & D Council for its generous support of our youth programs this year.

At 4-H, we are committed to helping young people find their spark by providing engaging, educational, and hands-on experiences that help them discover their interests, talents, and passions. Through innovative and fun programming, youth gain valuable life skills that prepare them to become productive, engaged members of today's society.

Our goal is to help youth thrive, both now and in the future. Research shows that young people who thrive in 4-H are more likely to experience long-term positive outcomes, including academic and vocational success, civic engagement, employability, economic stability, and overall happiness and well-being.

Because of partners like Ala-Tom RC&D Council, we can continue creating opportunities that inspire youth to learn, lead, serve, and grow. Your investment is helping Clarke County youth find their spark, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and reach their full potential.

With your help, we are meeting the challenge of preparing the next generation of leaders and helping our youth thrive. Thank you for believing in the power of 4-H and investing in the future of our community!
