We are of you, Mimi!
Congratulations to Amelia βMimiβ Weller from Grove City Area High School on receiving one of the PMEA District 5 Student Music Education Scholarships! Five scholarship awards were given out this year to students who will be pursuing a degree in Music Education. Amelia has been a participant of PMEA Honors Band, Honors Chorus, District Band, District Chorus, District Orchestra, Region Band, Region Chorus, Region Orchestra, All-State Band, All-State Chorus, and All-State Orchestra.
Amelia grew up in a very musical home; she is the third child of Dr. Travis Weller and Mrs. Beth Weller, who were her very first music teachers. Amelia is a French Horn player, and is a proud student of James Scanga (Sharpsville, PA).
At Grove City, Amelia is a drum major for the GCHS Marching Band, and serves as the President of both the Marching Band and Concert Band. She is also a vocalist, serving as the President of the GCHS Show Choir, Secretary of the GCHS Chamber Singers, and is a vocalist with the GCHS Jazz Band. Amelia is the President of the GCHS Thespian Society as well as a proud member of the GCHS Theater Department.
Following her graduation from GCHS, Amelia plans to pursue Music Education at Messiah University, with a primary concentration in French Horn. Amelia looks forward to working with the staff and students of the Messiah University Music Department, and it is with great excitement that she embarks on this journey to become a passionate educator - to shape lives through music and to always appreciate the rarity and awe of the arts.
