A successful day on the water! UConn CIRCA divers recently recovered an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) from the Connecticut River. This instrument was deployed for the Thatchbed Island Erosion and Mitigation Options Study, where it collected valuable water velocity data for the project.

However, after becoming buried 3ft in the channel, our dive team used a suction sampler to remove sand and uncover the instrument safely!

The CIRCA team has been busy installing heat sensors around CT over the last few years! CIRCA’s Heat Index Variability project is helping us better understand how temperatures vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. By collecting hyperlocal temperature and humidity data, these sensors provide a clearer picture of the heat people experience where they live, work, and play.
