Maire's 3rd and 4th grade magnet students had a great time visiting the 80th Greater Detroit Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show! Students explored a variety of rocks, minerals, and fossils while learning about geology, paleontology, and the history of our Earth. They also participated in hands-on activities, including fossil digging and gold panning, and enjoyed a presentation from Paleo Joe.

Many other 4th grade classes from across the district attended the show as well, giving students a fun opportunity to learn alongside their peers. It was a great way to bring science learning to life outside the classroom!

Lauren Brown and Jill Harrison’s class from Grosse Pointe Transition Campus (GPTC) enjoyed a Community Based Instruction (CBI) trip to the Grosse Pointe City police and fire station! A huge shout-out to Officer Jaron Jones, and Sgt. Joe Adams for going above and beyond to make our students feel welcome. Students learned when to call 911, how to help a friend having a seizure, and why families should choose a safe meeting place in case of a fire.
