Subject: Send a letter: Please act on the expansion of EdChoice vouchers

Friend,

I wrote a letter for the Action Network letter campaign: Please act on the expansion of EdChoice vouchers.

There has been an explosion in the number of statewide EdChoice vouchers. The number of districts that have school buildings eligible for vouchers has increased from 40 to 139 over the last year. The problem will only get worse if the legislature fails to act. Next year more than 400 districts will have buildings that are eligible for vouchers based on flawed report cards.

Please take action today by writing to your state legislators. Please adapt the sample letter to talk about the impact that vouchers are having in your area and on the students in your district.

Registration continues for the 2020 OEA Advocacy and Organizing Institute and some sessions are near capacity!

This year’s institute is full of learning opportunities from sessions on health insurance, contract enforcement, and bargaining styles to new offerings like “Code of Conduct: Rights and Responsibilities”, “Turning Down the Heat; The Art of Defusing Conflict in a School Setting”, “Join the Circle: An Introduction to Restorative Practices”, and a special session on OTES 2.0.

This year’s keynote address will be provided by Curt Steinhorst, Center for Generational Kinetics. His keynote address will focus on understanding and using generational differences to encourage participation in your association. A new addition to this year’s event will be a social time on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This gives attendees the opportunity to meet other OEA members from across the state and share the learnings of the day with hors’ devours and a cash bar.
