Mondays | 5:00–7:00 PM

A welcoming introduction to structured classical ballet training for young dancers — no previous ballet experience required.

🩰 OPEN DIVISION | Ages 9+
Tuesdays & Thursdays | 5:00–7:00 PM

Flexible evening training for dancers looking for additional classical ballet technique, conditioning, physical preparation, or an opportunity to continue developing toward more intensive training.

🌟 PRE-PROFESSIONAL DAYTIME TRAINING | Audition/Invitation Only

Placement in the Pre-Professional Division is by audition or Artistic Director invitation only. Families interested in being considered are welcome to contact us for more information.

🎬 Did you miss our screening of The Light of Ballet at the Edwin S. Porter Theater this past weekend?

This special documentary by speech.ge Sophiko Jajanashvili Zurab Katamadze offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the artistry, discipline, and dedication that shape the world of classical ballet. Featuring internationally respected ballet master Nikoloz Makhateli Nikoloz Makhateli, Summer Reed Summer Reed and the students of Vaganova Academy of Brownsville VAB_Academy the film celebrates the preservation of ballet tradition and the next generation of young artists carrying it forward.

What makes this story especially meaningful is that it takes place right here in rural Southwestern Pennsylvania. Set in Fayette County, The Light of Ballet highlights the remarkable achievements of young artists who are pursuing world-class ballet training in a region not often associated with the arts. It is a testament to the talent, determination, and community support that continue to thrive here at home.

Congratulations to Sienna and Grace on receiving full scholarships to attend the prestigious summer intensive at The Harid Conservatory this summer.

These opportunities are a reflection of years of dedication, discipline, and consistent training. We are incredibly proud to see our students recognized by respected institutions and invited to continue their development alongside talented young dancers from across the country.

At Vaganova Academy of Brownsville, our mission extends beyond weekly classes. We are committed to providing students with the training, mentorship, and professional guidance needed to open doors to scholarships, summer programs, and future opportunities in the ballet world.

🌸 Pas de Quatre from The Awakening of Flora

Originally choreographed by Marius Petipa in 1894, the Pas de Quatre is one of the most recognizable excerpts from this rarely performed ballet.

Created for a Romanov royal wedding celebration, The Awakening of Flora would later disappear from the stage for nearly a century before being reconstructed and returned to the repertoire.

This season, our students had the unique opportunity not only to study this historic work, but to perform it under the guidance of internationally respected ballet master Nikoloz Makhateli.

A beautiful glimpse into ballet history brought to life by the next generation of dancers. 🌸

👼✨ Our little angels are ready to take the stage!

This weekend, these young dancers will appear in VAB Gala 2026 as part of excerpts from the enchanting ballet The Awakening of Flora.

What makes this experience especially meaningful is that these students had the opportunity to learn and perform choreography under the guidance of internationally respected ballet master Nikoloz Makhateli. For many young dancers, the chance to work with an artist of his experience and knowledge is a rare gift—one they will carry with them for years to come.

From their first rehearsals to their final preparations for the stage, these little angels have worked hard, learned so much, and created memories that will last a lifetime. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and honored to provide them with opportunities to experience and preserve the traditions of classical ballet.

✨ AN EVENING OF CLASSICAL BALLET ✨

Join us for V.A.B. Gala 2026 — a special evening celebrating the artistry, discipline, and achievements of our students while supporting the V.A.B. Merit Scholarship Fund.

Since 2020, VAB has awarded over $60,000 in scholarships to talented and dedicated young dancers. These awards help ensure that exceptional students are not limited by financial or geographic circumstances, providing access to high-quality classical ballet training and artistic opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

Under the direction of Summer Reed and with the mentorship of internationally respected ballet master Nikoloz Makhateli, VAB students have received exceptional training and opportunities while remaining right here in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Our dancers have earned recognition, scholarships, invitations, and awards at nationally and internationally respected ballet competitions and training programs.

This year’s Gala will feature a restaging of the Imperial Ballet classic The Awakening of Flora, alongside original choreography created specifically for VAB students by Nikoloz Makhateli.
