STORM RECOVERY UPDATE — TOWN OF GRIFFITH

TREE & STORM DEBRIS:
Residents who remove storm-damaged trees, limbs, and branches may place debris in the easement near the curb for Town pickup. There is no need to call. Keep debris out of the roadway and away from hydrants and utility equipment.

If you hire a contractor or tree service, they must remove all debris. Contractors who leave debris for Town pickup or illegally dump on town or other property may be cited and fined.

TRASH COLLECTION:
Republic Services is expected to operate on the normal schedule next week. Place your blue cart in its normal location. If your alley remains blocked by debris, the Town will provide curbside instructions before collection day.

CONTRACTORS & SCAMS:
Use caution when hiring storm-repair contractors. A list of licensed contractors by trade is available under the Storm Recovery banner on the Town website. Verify credentials, get written estimates, avoid paying in full upfront, and do not provide personal or financial information to unsolicited individuals.

DAMAGE REPORTING — REPORT TO 211:
Every resident with storm damage is strongly encouraged to report it through Indiana 211, even if you have insurance, made repairs, or plan to handle cleanup yourself. Reports help IDHS and FEMA document the storm’s impact and determine eligibility for additional disaster resources.

Residents who are elderly, disabled, veterans, or experiencing financial hardship are especially encouraged to report. Indiana 211 may also connect qualifying residents with charitable organizations providing free assistance, including tree/debris removal and basement flooding remediation.

GENERATOR SAFETY:
Never operate a generator inside a home, garage, basement, or enclosed space. Keep generators outdoors and away from windows, doors, and vents. Carbon monoxide is odorless and can be deadly.

CONTINUED RECOVERY:
There is still work ahead, but Griffith is making progress every day. We appreciate everyone helping neighbors and moving our community forward.

We can’t thank you all enough for the love and support you showed us yesterday. Our first day back with power was amazing. A big thank you to our customers for being patient with us. The amount of food tickets our kitchen staff had to prepare was incredible and we are very proud of the job they did. Bridges’ Scoreboard will open at 10am today. Stop in watch some TV, charge your phones, cool off in our AC and grab a bite to eat or have a cold drink if you’d like. We pray your power is restored soon. We pray the power at our Scoreboard family’s homes is restored soon. We will all get through this. Thank you to our staff that made it to work, despite dealing with their own power issues and took care of our customers. Thank you guys! To our Scoreboard family members, customers & NWI community dealing with power loss, damage to their property and homes hang in there. Stay Strong! Persevere! This to shall pass.
