Verna Jean Nursery Verna Jean Nursery is a 2nd generation, family-run wholesale nursery providing customers with quality shade, flowering, & ornamental trees.

Verna Jean Nursery is a second-generation, family-run wholesale tree nursery providing our customers with quality shade, flowering, and ornamental trees for over 50 years. In 1967, Verna Jean Hale began her nursery on one acre, farming the land that her grandparents had once farmed. Over the years her nursery grew to almost 17 acres and is now run by Verna Jean’s son-in-law and daughter, Larry & Angi Bailey. Verna Jean prided herself in exceptional customer service and quality, handpicked trees, whether you required five or 500; and it is our strong desire to continue her legacy. Our nursery specializes in ornamental and flowering trees including Japanese Maple, European Beech, Dogwood, & Monkey Puzzle. Located in the scenic wonderland about 40 minutes east of downtown Portland, Oregon, we are proud to be part of the diverse and thriving horticultural community of Oregon. We are members of the Oregon Association of Nurseries and Oregon Farm Bureau. We continue Verna Jean's 38-year tradition by providing quality nursery stock for landscapers and specialty retailers.

Some snapshots of August at the nursery!

In preparation for the Farwest Show each year, we walk the fields/greenhouses and count trees in order to create our availability list. As we do this we just can’t resist taking photos of all our beautiful trees!

It’s a beautiful time of year at the nursery!

Today we are shipping out over 5,000 grafted liners of 5 different varieties to a local customer.

Did you know we do our own grafting? All of these liners were grafted right here on the farm using rootstock grown from seeds collected from mature Green Palmatum trees that have been on our land for decades.
