It's International Dog Day! 🐶 There isn't a more perfect day to celebrate Ellie Mae, aka Barney. 🐾

Ellie Mae is a 100-pound Saint Bernard lap dog. Most of the time she enjoys snuggling with her mom, MHCC Athletics Administrative Assistant Rachelle Ham, or anyone who sits still long enough to become her new best friend. Since she was a puppy, she has been coming to MHCC to meet all of her Saints friends and “ham” it up for the camera. You can often find her at MHCC athletics events cheering on her friends and meeting new people. ❤️🖤

A huge round of applause goes to the MHC Softball team! 👏🥎 They were named an Easton/NFCA Academic Team, one of only two colleges in the NWACSports to receive the honor.

Ten athletes were also named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes: Keiliani Crichton-Tunai, Kate Dunham, Sadie Guyette, Serena Hattori, Rachel Jones, Katie Klauman, Mabry Martin, Chloe McKenzie, Suntaya Riddle, and Olivia Stone.

These recognitions add more accomplishments to a historic year for MHCC softball after capturing the 2026 NWAC Championship. Now, the team’s success is also being celebrated beyond the field for its commitment to academic excellence! Go Saints! ❤️🖤

We're thrilled to welcome Lucas Hunter as the new MHCC Baseball Head Coach! ⚾️🎉

Coach Hunter is Portland native and Central Catholic High School graduate, bringing extensive baseball experience, deep ties to the Portland-area baseball community, and a passion for student-athlete development to MHCC. He was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 31st round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft before continuing his collegiate career at the University of Portland.

As the Saints welcome a new era under Coach Hunter’s leadership, we extend our deepest gratitude to Coach Korey Kier for his dedication to the program and its student-athletes. Throughout his tenure, Kier fostered a culture of accountability, resilience, and personal growth while positively impacting countless players both on and off the field. ❤️🖤

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the wildfires across Oregon. We know many in our community are facing uncertainty, and we're thinking of all those who have been displaced, are under evacuation, or are worried about loved ones.

If you're part of the MHCC community and have been impacted, please know you don't have to navigate this alone. Our Student Basic Needs team is available to help connect students with resources and support here: https://www.mhcc.edu/student-resources/student-basic-needs/index %20Basic%20Needs

Additionally, you can find a list of open shelters and disaster relief services at American Red Cross here: https://www.redcross.org/get-help/disaster-relief-and-recovery-services/find-an-open-shelter.html

Please take care of yourselves, check in on your neighbors when you can, and stay safe. ❤️

A huge congratulations goes to the MHCC Baseball team! ⚾️ We were once again awarded the American Team Academic Excellence award, making us one of only two programs in the NWAC to receive this honor! 🏆 To qualify for this award, the team had to post a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2025-26 academic year. Shoutout to both Hunter Allen and Jace Otteson for earning 4.0 during their time here at MHCC! 👏

MHCC students recently returned from an unforgettable experience in Japan! 🇯🇵

During their stay, they lived with host families and commuted each day to Sapporo Gakuin University (SGU), where they immersed themselves in Japanese language and culture. They visited an elementary school and experienced kyushoku (Japanese school meals), soji (cleaning their classrooms), engaged in thoughtful discussions with SGU English students during a poster symposium on current issues in Japan, and had the opportunity to wear traditional yukata (summer kimono).

This meaningful exchange was made possible through the long-standing sister-city relationship between Gresham and Ebetsu, Hokkaido, creating lasting friendships and strengthening cultural connections that surpass the distance.
