To all my Gresham families, it is bittersweet to start my new adventure. I will miss you guys so much! I am so sorry I won’t be at Hollydale anymore. But, you will always, always be in my amazing memories and heart. Your children are why I do this. Maybe I’ll see you out and about! Love to all of you!!!

I spent 20 years as a teacher in Gresham-Barlow School District and am so grateful for all the many, many friends I have made there. Onto new adventures with Portland Public Schools! I get to teach at the school where Augustus went K-8 and where Maximus will be continuing as he starts 5th grade. I’m so excited to be at my neighborhood school! I walked this morning for my first day and Augustus joined me! The staff and principal are amazing! I’m so happy for this change and am excited for what is to come. GBSD teachers and staff, I will always have your back! I love you guys!

What a year! This class has come a very long way! I’m so proud of all they’ve accomplished. Today they wrote in complete sentences that today was the last day of kindergarten, how they were feeling about it, and a favorite memory from the year. I will miss you all!

For the ending of Kindergarten, we have been learning all about animals!: habitats, how they move, what they eat, how they survive, and more. For the students’ final project, they chose their own animal and did their own research to create an animal report/project/presentation! They wrote in complete sentences to tell about their animal and illustrated! Then, we invited our 5th grade buddies to come for a project show! Finally, each student gave an oral presentation of their animal! I am so proud of these end-of-year kindergarteners! They are ready for 1st grade!

We read the book, THE COLORS of US and talked about all of our beautiful colors, like hazelnut cream, coffee toffee, cocoa with whipped cream, vanilla swirl, toasted caramel, and more! We mixed our own colors using various skin tone paints to get as close as we could to our own. We celebrate our beautiful array of shades and feel proud of the skin we are in. ❤️
