🌴 Newly planted palms need frequent watering to help get their roots established. Once they’re comfy in their new home, they are drought-tolerant and only need occasional deep watering during dry spells.

✂️ Minimal maintenance needed! Only remove fully brown fronds and seed heads.

Palm Prep Checklist
Assess and Prune: Once the final frost passes, trim away only the completely brown fronds. Keep any green growth to help the tree recover its energy.

Check for Spear Rot: Give the center-most leaf (the spear) a gentle tug. If it stays firm, the core is healthy; if it pulls out, treat the center with a copper fungicide immediately.

Fertilize Early April: Use a slow-release 8-2-12 fertilizer containing magnesium and manganese. Spread it evenly under the canopy, keeping it a few inches away from the trunk.

Mulch for Moisture: Apply 3 inches of pine bark or needles around the base. This protects the roots from the intense SC summer heat and keeps the soil hydrated.

Deep Water: Transition to a deep-soaking schedule. Instead of light daily misting, give the roots a thorough soak 2–3 times a week as the temperature rises.
