When working with DIN and ISO standards, conversions for certain screw types can become complex due to the number of design variations. However, as with most metric fasteners, equivalent standards are often functionally interchangeable depending on the application. ⚙️

Metric fasteners are widely used across machinery and industrial applications, and their sizing system is designed to be straightforward and consistent. 🏭

Sizes typically range from M5 to M30, where the “M” indicates metric and the number represents the bolt’s diameter in millimeters, for example, an M30 bolt has a 30mm thread diameter. 📏

Strength is identified through markings on the bolt head, which indicate both the manufacturer and the fastener’s tensile class. These markings reflect how much load the fastener can handle before failure, measured in force per square millimeter. ⚙️

For example, a Class 8.8 bolt is designed to withstand approximately 80 kg per square millimeter, with the second number indicating it begins to deform at 80% of its rated strength. A 10.9 bolt increases that capacity to 100 kg per square millimeter with deformation beginning at 90%, while a 12.9 bolt offers even higher performance thresholds.
