At NGU we are still celebrating our EdD graduates from our spring commencement.

One of our graduates is Dr. Carl Dukes. His dissertation title is, “The Effect of Special Education Student Placement and Race on High School Graduation Rates”.

Dr. Dukes is the Lead Exceptional Children Teacher at North Charleston High School.

Here’s what Dr. Dukes has to say about earning his EdD at NGU, “The goal of my degree will be to help me succeed as a more effective leader on the secondary level and in my community. My degree will also allow me to be more creative with implementing change by bringing more resources to a title I school, where my heart will always be. This degree means so much to me as I just proved to myself and every inner-city (projects & hood) kid that being a product of your environment is not always as bad as most may use it. I am a product of my environment because of the adversity, trials, and tribulations I faced as at-risk youth and teen. Instead of making excuses, I used my adversity to motivate me to be successful. I went from a high school dropout to Dr. Dukes. Bringing hope and opportunity to the inner-city is my service.”

We will continue to celebrate Dr. Carl Dukes and how he uses his degree for good!
