Saturday I had the opportunity to meet with Sen Pope and Rep Bennie Thompson to discuss the importance of funding child care and the negative impact of voucher cuts on children care centers in MS.
Rep Thompson stated, "We must come together not only during times of trouble, but also when things are going well, so that our voices are unified and strong enough to be heard."

We as child care providers have already taken importance steps to raise awareness. We have gathered at the Capitol (numerous occasions), written letters (so have our parents), and spoken out about the URGENT need for sustainable child care funding. Our work is still undone.

During the pandemic from 2020-2022, Child care providers were DEEMED as ESSENTIAL to make sure health care workers, first responders, gas station employees, etc were supported with a safe haven for their babies.

Question: What is the difference between today and yesteryear?

Answer: Nothing!! We were DEEMED as ESSENTIAL then and we are STILL ESSENTIAL TODAY!
