I am going to archive this page as I do not teach Zumbini format any more. I am still teaching Teeny Tiny Toes, Teeny Tiny Dancers and Montessori Beginnings classes at the Greenwood Community Center. Please follow Miss Maryia’s Early Childhood Education Classes page for more information.

The primary goal, or heartbeat, of the Zumbini program is to introduce young children to music, movement, and rhythmic musical instruments. Children learn through play, not direct instruction, in this class. They learn by simply “being “a part of the experience, as well as participation and doing.

New session begins this Thursday, October 21!
Join us at the Greenwood Community Center for an 8-week session of “TJ and his PJs” fun!
Our children have bright futures ahead, and at Zumbini classes, we encourage them to explore and develop their abilities through play!

Drumming in Zumbini always follows one of our main principles, there is no right or wrong way to play!
While I may be demonstrating different ways to create sounds, such as drumming fast or slow beats, tapping loud or soft, using large or small arm movements, etc., my hope is that the little ones in the circle participate in whatever way they want. In the beginning, they may just stare at me, taking in everything. Some kids bang as hard as they can from day one. Others may start to follow the different challenging patterns I present during the songs to explore new rhythms or volumes.

If you’re venturing back into the world post-Covid with your toddler and they seem afraid to interact with other children and adults, I recommend listening to Janet Lansbury’s podcast ‘Unruffled’. Janet offers some insight about what’s going on in these toddler’s minds and advice about how to support them during this transition. I am a huge fan of her respectful parenting philosophy.
