Last week, Miss Geiser had the opportunity to chat with Ruth Munoz, a care manager from Mountaire Farms. Mountaire is one of the main local businesses that provides major funding for the Cornerstone Scholarship that has assisted many of our families with their tuition bill this year. These ladies graduated from 10th grade at GMS in 1971 (at that point, students had to finish their education elsewhere until grades 11 & 12 were added). All these years later, they still meet for quarterly breakfasts to catch up and remember the "good old days" of GMS. Each of them is also still involved in their own way at the school.

World Leaders Project - Letter #14 The United Kingdom

Our world leaders project continues into the summer! We received a letter from Buckingham Palace from an assistant to King Charles, the monarch of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and his other Realms and Territories.

Ruby and Haddie stopped by to read the letter and hang the picture of His Majesty the King.

World Leaders Project - Letter #13 Palau!

Our latest world leaders letter is from SΓΊrangel S. Whipps, Jr., President of the Republic of Palau. I'm the letter he states that his favorite food is fish from Palau and that he has traveled to many different countries.

President Whipps also sent along postage stamps from Palau, a travel guide, and stickers for each of the girls!

Today we celebrated Mrs Marlene Warfel's retirement after 33 years of teaching kindergarten at GMS. Her husband, Everett Warfel is also retiring after 11 years of fixing everything that needed to be fixed and making improvements all along the way.

Lots of students share little memories of their time in Mrs Warfel's class. This included Mrs Deputy and Mrs Johnson who were both in her very first kindergarten class, back when she was Miss Swartzentruber.

We are very grateful for the impact both of the Warfels have had on the school community and GMS will not be the same without them!

Happy retirement Mrs. Warfel and Mr Everett!
