We're excited to catch up with one of three students who made up Aspen's first graduating class, Cameron Strimbu: Class of 2008!

"Hey there, I'm Cameron Strimbu! As an Aspen Academy alum I want to share the biggest driving factor I gained from my time there: community. This singlehandedly dictated my inspirations and future decisions in ways I wouldn't have expected. Through my years of practicing music, art, and animation, I developed a deep passion for learning and sharing that experience. We become the best version of ourselves by helping others become the best version of themselves.

This lesson deepened when I started substitute teaching. As Mr. S, I rediscovered that same sense of community in exactly the same kind of place I first found it, but now on the other side of the desk.

I'll sign off with one final tidbit of wisdom from Mr. S. We never find what we're hoping for if we're not looking for it. Be willing to try new things and you'll discover passions you never expected. Don't be quick to brush off opportunity when it arrives, and most importantly bring a good attitude and a willingness to learn even when things aren't ideal. You will certainly surprise yourself with what you're capable of!"

We're so thankful for the alumni, family, and friends who helped us celebrate our graduates! It was wonderful catching up and seeing how much our alums have grown. You’ll always have a home at Aspen! 💚
