Our 2025–2026 school year at TSLC culminated on May 17 with a festive, school-wide celebration of Shavuot. Our religious school classes learned about the receiving of the Torah and participated in a special ice cream party, honoring the tradition of eating dairy during the holiday to symbolize the nourishment needed for spiritual and moral growth.

Students were also asked to bring fresh fruits or vegetables to donate to our local food pantry, Neighbor to Neighbor, as a reminder of God’s generosity and the importance of fostering social justice for those in need.

Thank you for a wonderful year filled with great memories, meaningful connections and a love for Judaism!

Earlier this month, our TSLC 7th grade students were joined by their parents during religious school to participate in ADL's Word to Action workshop. This important program empowers young Jewish students to become leaders in addressing antisemitism and encourages them to explore and connect to their Jewish identity and to each other.

During religious school on Sunday, our students participated in age-appropriate celebrations themed around Tu B'Shivat, the "New Year" of the trees. Activities included making decorations and tree-inspired pictures, playing pin the fruit on the tree, and for the older students - a Tu B'Shivat seder to reflect on nature and renewal.

Our TSLC 3rd grade families participated in a very special grade-wide Havdalah celebration this month. Students had the opportunity to create their own braided Havdalah candles and spice bags in preparation for the multi-sensory ceremony to mark the end of Shabbat. Families were invited to stay after for a casual dinner and each student received a gift to mark this milestone in their religious school experience.

Shabbat Shalom!

During the last Sunday of religious school before winter break, our 4th graders explored the Chanukah story - from historical artifacts/texts, to musical mainstays of the holiday, and popular media depictions. They also learned about the meaning of each acronym letter of the dreidel, spelling out the significance of miracles occurring within the Jewish tradition. As a hands-on activity, each student made a delicious DIY dreidel to enjoy in celebration of the holiday.
