Mr. Hickman’s 5th grade class had a great time bringing learning and creativity together! 📚✂️

Students researched a topic of their choice, identified important facts, and then used construction paper to create a picture representing what they learned.

From animals and sports to food and natural disasters, each student had the opportunity to show off their creativity while practicing research and informational writing skills. He loved seeing their ideas come to life and how proud they were to share their finished work! 🌟👏

Summer learning can get a little chilly when fifth graders bring winter to August! ☀️❄️

Today, our 5th-grade scientists experimented with **Snowmen in August**—building mini snowmen out of shaved ice to observe firsthand how matter changes forms. As the snowmen melted, students tracked the transition from solid to liquid and illustrated the complete lifecycle to cement their understanding of physical science concepts. Hands-on learning at its best!

This morning by 7:30 students were hard at work in small group asking questions and experiencing growth! This afternoon at 12:30 we began our first day of Advanced Art Club. 24 students applied to be in Art Club in 4th-5th grade. Each afternoon students will participate in Advanced Art, News Broadcasting, Modern Band, Lego Robotics and 3D printing, and sports club. There is a different club each afternoon. We are excited to build the whole child through our Arts Integration activities.

We have had a wonderful start to our school year! Our classes are in full swing and students are engaged and learning. Today Mrs Shreck’s and Mrs Henkel’s homeroom had 100% of parents join dojo. We also had a group of students taste test lasagna for the cafeteria to determine if it will be a new menu item. Thank you for your work students and for a great first full week!
