Happy Father's Day!

During the spring, 7th grade Art Tech students (now rising 8th graders) made short music videos with the animal hand puppets they created. Yes, their puppets are wearing St. Peter Mass uniform shirts that the students sewed themselves! The students shot video outside the art room to use as backgrounds for the greenscreen technique. Reston Butcher shot video of a river to use as a background for the puppets. Students edited videos in the iMovie app on their school iPads. She's here, and she's perfect! Mrs. Haigwood and her husband welcomed their second child yesterday, Blake Azalea Haigwood. Everyone is doing great! Please join us in congratulating The Haigwood Family and praying for their continued blessings!

Please join us in wishing Coach Melton a very happy birthday! His booming voice is unmistakable, just as his commitment to St. Peter, his students and his teams are unmatchable. Wildcats love to read, and the Read with Me program is just one of many ways we foster a love of reading! During the school year, we love our weekly visits from Sophia, and her human, Dr. Bonnie Mani from East Carolina University. They are part of a national program, Pet Partners. The students in these pictures are in PreK, so they will get to look forward to visits to read with Sophia in their elementary school years. The students read, discuss, and share connections to their chosen books. Many books have dog themes. They give Sophia treats and learn how to approach and pet her. This program is all about the love and diversity of reading, and the motivation of reading more in our day. Many students have shown great improvement in their reading skills as a result. We are so grateful to Dr. Manifor her service!

The corporal works of mercy are alive and well. Our third and fifth grade students feed 160 people in need at the JOY Community Center & Soup Kitchen
each week during the school year! Pictured first are Preston Edmison and Aaron Rogers, two eighth graders (now graduates) who were selected to assist throughout this school year. Many thanks to Mrs. Godwin as well for keeping this tradition alive at our school for more than 25 years.
