Please give a warm welcome to Mrs. Emily Pawson!
Mrs. Pawson will be teaching sixth grade, and she is excited to develop relationships with her students. She is a familiar face to many of us since she graduated from here and then returned last year as a substitute. Ever since she graduated from HPCS she knew she wanted to come back and teach here full-time, and she is so thankful that God is allowing her to do just that!
Emily loves trying new coffee shops and going out to eat with her husband, Cam. Family time is a priority for them, and they have many family members that live locally. They enjoy staying active and being outside, whether that’s playing a sport, going on a walk, or working out at the gym. Mrs. Pawson even attempted surfing when they lived in Charleston! She also loves to read, grow flowers (or try to), and she just started baking sourdough bread.
Mrs. Pawson is thankful to be “back home” at HPCS. This place is special to her and holds dear memories from her days as a student. She prays that she can be a part of those sweet memories for her students and that they will see the Lord through everything she says and does.
If you want to make Mrs. Pawson’s day, it will be helpful to know that she loves coffee!
Welcome, Mrs. Pawson. We’re thankful you’re here!

Hampton Park is pleased to introduce Mrs. Amanda Newsom!
Mrs. Newsom is joining our team as an Instructional Coach, and she has a passion for supporting and coaching teachers. She appreciates many different teaching styles and she is excited to serve our teachers in this way.
Mandy loves the connection of HPCS as a ministry of Hampton Park Baptist Church. She appreciates having her pastors and other fellow brothers/sisters in Christ teaching her children throughout the week and also on Sundays. Mrs. Newsom loves running, traveling, scrapbooking and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys board and card games and she especially loves the beach!
You might catch Mrs. Newsom drinking coffee or Coke Zero, and she really enjoys pistachios and chocolate chip cookies.
We’re so happy you’re here, Mrs. Newsom!

Welcome to our team, Mrs. Bates!
Sarah Bates is joining the faculty at Hampton Park as our lower school (K-2) music teacher. Teaching lower school music has been a passion of hers for a long time! When she was a senior at HPCS, she sat in on one of Mrs. Blackmon’s music classes. After school that day Sarah told her mom, “That’s exactly what I want to do one day! Best class ever!” And now, twenty-two years later, God has given her one of the desires of her heart.
Mrs. Bates has enjoyed staying home with her children for the past fourteen years (another desire of her heart) and she is excited to step back into the classroom and finds it exciting to be teaching at her alma mater and where her own children are enrolled.
Most of the time you can catch Sarah doing whatever her four children are doing. She also enjoys making cakes and sourdough, watching baseball (Go O’s), hanging out in her chicken coop, having people over to her home, and reading a good book. Almost always you’ll see her with her water bottle, but occasionally she’ll splurge on green tea, matcha, or chai. You’ll never catch her drinking coffee! Mrs. Bates also enjoys dark chocolate and dried mango.
Mrs. Bates, welcome! We’re glad you’re here!

HPCS is excited to introduce our school nurse, Mrs. Brittany Bergstrom!
Mrs. Bergstrom is excited to build connections with and offer support to our students, parents, and faculty/staff. From the moment that she and her husband, Erik, toured the school with Jami Murr they knew HPCS was right for their family. As they’ve gotten to know more school families and Hampton Park employees through various activities and services, they’ve experienced a welcoming and loving family that Brittany deeply desires to partner with and serve.
Being with her family is her favorite way to spend her time, and the Bergstrom family is always up for exploring new places. They love playing sports and utilizing the Swamp Rabbit Trail for walking, running, and e-biking. The Bergstroms like to bring their Springer Spaniel, Zona, along too!
Mrs. Bergstrom’s favorite beverage is water with lemon, but in a pinch she’ll grab Lemon-Lime Liquid IV. When snacking she enjoys trail mix with dark chocolate or Kettle corn Popchips!
Mrs. Bergstrom, we’re thrilled to have you on the HP team!

Hampton Park is excited to welcome our new lower school art teacher, Melissa Giglio!
Mrs. Giglio has been a school parent since 2020 and she has loved the school ever since her family arrived here. She’s excited to teach our K-5th grade students because she believes that the problem solving, discovery, and creative thinking skills that art reinforces are an integral part of learning.
For more than thirteen years Mrs. Giglio has run her own business called January Jewelry, and she has a home studio where she makes her beautiful items! She wants her students to know that even if their creative talents don’t end up being a “job” for them their creative gifts and abilities help make the world a more beautiful and meaningful place.
Growing flowers and vegetables from seed is a new hobby for Melissa. And, if you really want to make her day she enjoys an oat milk latte with honey and cinnamon or crackers/cookies that have a good crunch.
Welcome, Mrs. Giglio! We’re so glad you’re here!
