Last month we opened the door to Workshop in the heart of downtown Greenville Alabama. It's a space where the three of us have merged our work along with treasured belongs to create a workroom for ourselves and a place that nurtures creativity. It's made from things collected, passed down, and now here they are together.
Supported by MuseALABAMA, a non profit devoted to bridging artists in community, Workshop is a hub for us and for you. Come see us. Try a class or workshop. Attend a gallery night or Third Friday event or just stop by during the week.
Hours:
Tuesday 9:30-2:30
Wednesday 9:30-12:30
Thursdays 11-2:30
Fridays (see events calendar)
Saturday (see events calendar)
Weekly musings from Jill
Have you noticed that in a time of advancing technology the return to handmade is now exploding especially among Gen Z and Millennials? They are leading the resurrection of traditional and handmade crafts. Many may have never grown up around knitting, sewing, pottery, crochet, or needlepoint but they are fully vested and we should follow their lead.
We can order or buy anything now, but our hands still need to make! It's what we are designed to do and it's more than just knitting a scarf. In the doing, we gain something more important. We experience the satisfaction of our hands submerged in a process.
Process leads us to something that we did not know before we started. So I encourage you to find something with a process, forget about the end result, and enjoy the journey.
Report back....
