We were thrilled to welcome Furman University Alumni Dallas Shuman ’25 back for the 19th Annual Psychology and Neuroscience Summer Research Conference!

It wasn’t that long ago that Dallas was on the other side of the event as a student presenter (from Dr. Flores's Lab). In fact, she participated in the Summer Research Conference three years in a row as a neuroscience major. Now, she’s preparing to head to graduate school this fall!

We were delighted that Lynn Nanney Roosevelt was able to join us for the 19th Annual Psychology and Neuroscience Summer Research Conference.

Lynn is the daughter of the late Lib Nanney, beloved Furman Psychology administrative assistant, and the late Dr. Ray Nanney, founder of Furman’s Computer Science Department and professor of chemistry and computer science.

Furman Psychology alumni always enjoy sharing “Lib Nanney stories.” Her generosity to students was truly legendary and remains a treasured part of the department’s history.

We were glad to have Janet Hysinger Cover join us at this year’s research conference. Each year, we present two awards named in her honor to summer research students for outstanding presentations at the Psychology & Neuroscience Research Conference.

It was a wonderful day celebrating the hard work of our students alongside parents, guests, alumni, faculty, and staff. Congratulations to our research students and faculty mentors on a meaningful and inspiring summer of discovery!

Over our Summer Research July, we were treated to Summer Magic with Dr. Putnam!

Our great audience of research students, faculty, and staff took a break in the work day to enjoy a mind-bending magic presentation by Dr. Putnam. He blended magic with psychology and wowed us all. It was a fun and memorable way to enjoy time together this summer!

Attention all vegans and vegetarians! The Learning Lab at Furman University is performing a quick research study. Summer research is in full swing, but we hit pause for some friendly pickleball fun. A beautiful morning, a little competition, and a great chance to connect outside the lab!

Congratulations to Caroline Powers, recipient of the Paul and Clara Cover Memorial Fellowship for her outstanding performance in PSY 201/202. She is working in Dr. Hahn's lab this summer.

AND Congratulations to James Riley-Enriquez who was named the Einstein Summer Research Scholar and is continuing his work in Dr. Rice’s lab.
