🇺🇸 Putting their constitutional knowledge to the test!

On Friday, our Civics & Economics students were on campus at East Carolina University to participate in the Constitution Bee, where they put what they’ve been learning in the classroom into action through a little friendly competition!

JPII has participated in the Constitution Bee every year since the event began in 2021, giving our students the opportunity to test their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution, spend time on a college campus, and enjoy a different kind of learning experience outside the classroom.

At JPII, Saints are family...even when former teammates find themselves on opposite sidelines!

Gentry McMinn '26 & Caleb Rogers '26 faced off yesterday when Guilford College traveled to Methodist University. Joining in on the reunion were their senior theology teacher Mrs. Ford and former classmate Gabe Lewis '26.

We love seeing our former student-athletes continue to compete at the next level, and it’s even more special when their paths cross along the way. Because at JPII, being a Saint is about more than the years you spend here, you become part of a family that stays with you long after graduation.

Once a Saint, always a Saint!

The Saints defense set the tone from the very beginning of the game with a Dylan Friesen sack and forced fumble that was recovered by Brayden LaFleur on the 2nd play from scrimmage. That was the 1st of 4 forced TOs, the other 3 were INTs by James Carmack, Bryce Martin, and Ryan Wright. Martin’s came off of a tipped ball by Wright at the edge of the end zone and Martin returned it 44 yards to end a St. David’s drive just before halftime.

On offense, QB Maddox Shelby celebrated his 17th birthday by etching his name into the record books, becoming the first Saints player to throw for 3 TDs in a game: two to Michah Hardy (27 & 15 yards) and the other to Nathan Wright for 45 yards. Hiet Zell and CJ Dail powered the run game with Zell reaching the end zone twice (2 & 50 yards) and Dail scoring from 9 yards out.

Special teams featured a 72-yard kickoff return for a TD by James Carmack to start the 2nd half. Nikos Pantelidis was good on 6 XP attempts.

The Saints are now 4-0 and travel to Wake Christian (1-3) next Friday.
