DIEGO ESCOBAR SELECTED FOR THE BODY ARMOR EAST STATE SOCCER TEAM

Rising junior soccer player Diego Escobar has been named to the prestigious Body Armor East State Soccer Team roster. Escobar will represent the East region in the upcoming High School State Body Armor tournament, joining an elite group of top-tier prep athletes selected from across the region.

The Body Armor State games serve as one of the premier competitive showcases for high school soccer players, drawing heavily from regional talent pools and attracting attention from collegiate scouts across the country. Escobar’s selection highlights his standout performance over the past season and solidifies his reputation as a rising talent in the state's competitive soccer landscape.

"Having Diego represent John Paul II High School on the Body Armor East roster is a massive testament to his work ethic, technical skill, and consistency on the pitch," said Dusty Causey, Head Coach of the Body Armor East Men's Team. "The competition to make this regional roster is incredibly fierce, and Diego earned his spot through sheer merit and dedication. He represents the high standard of athleticism and character we look for in this program, and we are excited to see him impact the game during tournament play."

Local fans, media, and athletic departments can follow Diego and the rest of the Body Armor East squad as they compete for the state title this summer.

Summer isn't a break from our mission of service—it's another opportunity to live it. Yesterday, students served at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, giving their time to help provide meals for neighbors in need. Simple acts of service show faith in action!

Varsity Football finished 4-0 in tonight's 7-on-7 scrimmage with Faith Christian, Farmville Central, North Lenoir, and Sallie B. Howard. Thank you to all four schools for joining us for a great evening of competition.

The hard work continues this summer, but tonight was a great opportunity to compete, improve, and build momentum for the season ahead which begins on Aug. 15th when the team travels to Gatlinburg, TN to play East Central (AL) in the Black Bear Brawl.

Max Mason '25 (1st photo, left) & Hannah Smith '22 (2nd photo, right) had some of the best seats as the UNC baseball team won its Regional and Super Regional to clinch a berth in the Men's College World Series. Max is an analyst for the UNC Baseball Analytics Team and Hannah assisted Athletic Communications with media coordination. Next month she joins the University of Florida Athletic Association as a Communication Assistant.

Congrats to Dillon Gregory '22 who, after graduating from UNCW, starts law school at Stetson University in Florida this fall!
