By Tommy McD., Extension Master Gardener Volunteer, Pitt County Extension Office
A parade of yellows and oranges, peppered with shimmery greens and playful pinks, characterizes this week’s display. The colorful flowers, leaves, and stems all celebrate the changing of the seasons, making this a good time to visit the Pitt County Arboretum.

What do you do with your pumpkins once Halloween has passed? They don't have to be tossed in the trash. Pumpkins can be composted or fed to livestock. If you don't have a way to do either of those things and want them to go to good use, bring them to us and we'll find a home for them!
(Please no plastic, candles, or other non-biodegradable items- just the pumpkins!)

It's Master Gardener Monday!
Jack likes working in the Walking Garden with the shade provided by the variety of trees. Occasionally a tree needs to be removed so he gets out the chain saw and takes care of it. He joined the Master Gardeners in 2008 and offers workshops on how and when to prune.

It's Master Gardener Monday!
Vicki fulfills her love to play in the perfect Arboretum role: curator for the Children's Garden. In order to meet her goal of making the Garden a fun place for kids to learn about plants and pollinators she finds suitably quirky plants and sculptures and adds her own whimsical creations. She joined the Master Gardener Program in 2018 after retiring from teaching in school to teaching in the Arboretum.
