Berea Middle School

👨🏿‍🎓 This year, our scholars experienced incredible growth while using a variety of learning tools—and next year, we're excited to continue strengthening foundational skills through even more hands-on learning.

🙅🏽‍♀️ Beginning this school year, Thursdays will be designated as “No Tech Thursdays,” where learning will take place without Chromebooks.

📃 Scholars can expect engaging lessons focused on reading, writing, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving using traditional paper-and-pencil activities.

📉 In fact, families can expect to see less Chromebook use overall next year as we shift toward a more balanced approach that incorporates more paper-and-pencil assignments, classroom discussions, and hands-on learning experiences.

💻 Technology remains an important tool in education, but it is just ONE of many tools we use to help scholars succeed, but we are excited to enhance their learning without using tech everyday.

☀️While summer often means a break for many, our teachers continue to show the dedication, professionalism, and work ethic that make a difference for students every day.

💚 This week, our educators are engaged in collaboration and planning sessions focused on AVID's 3 Phases of Critical Reading—developing strategies to help students think critically, engage deeply with texts, and strengthen their literacy skills.

💪🏿 Their commitment to learning, growing, and refining instruction during the summer months reflects a shared belief: our students deserve the very best. The hours spent planning, collaborating, and preparing now will create stronger learning experiences throughout the school year.

🥹 We are grateful for the passion, expertise, and tireless effort our teachers bring to their work—not just during the school year, but all year long!

💃🏽 Our scholars celebrated the end of their middle school journey with music, dancing, laughter, food, friends, and memories that will last for years to come.

🕺🏾 It was incredible watching our 8th graders enjoy one final celebration together before heading off to high school.

💚 We are so proud of this class and grateful to all staff members and families who helped make this special night possible.

🥹 What an incredible day celebrating our Multilingual Learners at Berea Middle for their INCREDIBLE efforts on the Access Test this year

🥰 Our ML Celebration was filled with laughter, joy, great food, and so many smiles from our scholars. We are so proud of the hard work and dedication these students have shown, and it was an honor to celebrate their accomplishments together as a school community.

🍨 A HUGE thank you to Greenville Federal Credit Union for providing all 175 students with a FREE churro sundae!

🥤 Thank you to OnTrack Greenville for helping keep our scholars hydrated with free Gatorade throughout the celebration!

🌮 And a very special thank you to Ms. Karem Santiago for generously supplying free tacos to all who needed them!

🏆 Back-to-back House Cup Champions!

💙 House Support brought home the House Cup for the SECOND year in a row, and today they celebrated with a trip to Roller Sports!

🥇 From teamwork and leadership to accountability and school spirit, these scholars earned every bit of this moment.

🛼 Today was all about fun, laughter, skating, and celebrating a year of hard work together.

💪🏿 This morning we celebrated the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of our incredible 6th grade scholars at the 6th Grade EOY Awards Ceremony!

📃 Our AVID scholars recently put their Cornell Notes skills into action in a fun and hands-on way!

🥢 Students learned the steps for using chopsticks by writing the directions in their own words, highlighting key details, and creating questions that could be answered using their notes.

💚 Afterwards, they put their learning to the test by using chopsticks to pick up tasty treats! Each student even received their own pair of chopsticks to take home and continue practicing.
