Lots of rain today over Blackbeard. He is surveying the natural and artificial reefs in Onslow Bay tonight. The batteries will be depleted during this overnight survey with very little solar charge today, but that is OK. We will pick it up tomorrow morning.

The location of Blackbeard the Wave Glider is shown as of 4 PM, with Speed Over Ground (in knots). It is moving faster than ever on this mission about 1.9 knots, due to a favourable current direction and high wave action. Solar panels have completely charged the batteries. Blackbeard is heading back to the recovery location near Beaufort Inlet. We will sample around the Swansboro Rotary Club Artificial Reef tonight (AR-345). It is working perfectly and will finish its mission early.

Photos from Wave Glider School on the Big Island (Hawai'i). Roger Rulifson, Mark Sprague, and Joe Luczkovich went to Liquid-Robotics Support Operations Test and Evaluation Facility in Kawaihae, Hawai’i to learn how to assemble, maintain, deploy, recover and operate a wave glider.
