The new cohort of LINC Scholars was introduced at the ECU Health board meeting yesterday. These student Leaders in INnovative Care — LINC! — will spend time with academic physicians and health system administrators considering systematic quality improvement, data science, safety and more. Educating future physician leaders in their hospitals, clinics and communities!

Innovation in pediatric mental health care was recognized recently when NC-STeP-Pediatrics received the 2026 American Psychiatric Association Psychiatric Services Gold Award. Created by Dr. Sy Saeed, its telepsychiatry model has been used to screen 47,000 and supported almost 6,000 more w/ follow up. One way we're reaching rural patients for care.

Terrific visit from Dr. Chris Heery (’06) who served as CMO of Arcellx in Durham for five years. Research has played an outsized role in his medical career, which he shared with a couple dozen students in the Summer Scholars Research Program. Board certified in medical oncology but driving translational and clinical development of immunotherapies — another way our grads meet patients where they are.
