Sunshine 5K Race Week

We plan to meet at the park Shelter House #2 around 8:00 a.m. Our DeColores Team will lead the National Anthem together(students and parents) and then the Fun Run for the kids will start. At the finish of the Fun Run the Sunshine 5K will begin. There will be snacks, fruit, cookies and water for everyone. There are many donated door prizes to win in addition to ribbons and medals. It is a fun time to be together with our families. We are excited to see everyone there.

If you pre-registered the race bags will be delivered to DeColores at the Central campus on Friday morning. We will have your race gear ready for pickup at the 10:45-11:00 a.m. dismissal. For Jr High families we will deliver the bags to the farm campus for pickup. If you don’t receive your race shirt, # and gear Nancy and Sharon will have them near the race start line at the park. We will take a group picture before the start of the race. Bring your best smiles and thank you for supporting DeColores Montessori. If you have an item or gift card you would be willing to donate to the door prizes contact Nancy/Sharon.

For many of our students and staff this is week 3 of classes. It is our first five day week which means everyone needs extra patience, smiles, kindness, blessings and grace. Be sure to stay hydrated, relax and get plenty of rest and don’t forget to add some humor. Enjoy your week. Our staff and students are SPECTACULAR!!

Our Upper Elementary students will enjoy an overnight field trip to Hocking Hills, departing on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and returning on Friday afternoon by 2:15 p.m. This field trip corresponds with their science, cultural studies, math and language arts curriculum.

Happy Labor Day Announcements
September 7-11, 2026

Our first week back to school was exceptional in every way, exceptionally fun, exceptionally HOT, exceptionally interesting and exceptionally busy! What a great week! We were so happy to be back with our friends and students in our classrooms. It was great!

Week two will continue to be amazing as more of our toddlers and preschoolers will be joining us this week beginning on Wednesday. We will have extra help on arrivals and dismissals but we will need about six weeks to get things moving efficiently. We thank you for your patience, understanding and support.

Just a quick reminder that Tuesday could be a tough day for some youngsters as we head back to school and they have enjoyed a holiday at home. Just a few words and lots of smiles help to reassure a reluctant child. Arrival times are 8:00-8:20 a.m. at the Central Campus. 7:30-7:45 a.m. at the Jr High Farm Campus. Our gate is closed and locked at 8:25 a.m. in order for classes to begin promptly at 8:30 Central Campus, 7:45 a.m. Farm Campus. We greatly appreciate your patience and kindness.

Our fall mumkin sale begins on Wednesday, September 9 online. Rozzy and Jessica are heading up the work for the fall fundraiser. Any questions do not hesitate to contact the office, Nancy or Liz.

There are a couple of additional sign-ups for parents. Be sure to sign up for One Call by visiting our school website www.decoloresschool.org. If school is delayed or cancelled you will be notified right away. Thank you to the many families already signed up.

Bring your Fun Run registration forms to our school campuses. You will save 3% by allowing us to process your registration. The Fun Run is Saturday, September 19, at 8:00 a.m. DeColores was chosen to sing the National Anthem to start the race. Everyone is welcome to participate for a fun morning and there will be lots of door prizes and awards. We have more than 100 entries keep up the good work our goal is 250 strong families/friends running and walking together. GO TEAM!!

Music Practice Clubs will begin this week. Grades 4,5,6 will practice from 2:15-2:35 Tuesday at the Brethren Church. Parents should pull up to the covered awning and the students will be walked out to you by a staff member.Practice Club pick-up is 2:40 p.m. Grades 2,3 will practice on Wednesday from 2:15-2:35 at the Brethren Church. Pick-up for grades 2,3 is 2:40 p.m. A staff member will es**rt your child to the car. The instruments stay at the Church until Thursday p.m.

Maria Montessori’s birthday was celebrated on August 31. She is remembered for creating multi-aged classrooms for children, prepared environments and hands-on learning experiences with blocks of uninterrupted work times known as the Montessori Method. Children develop independence, love of learning and problem-solving strategies as a result of this pedagogy.

Welcome Back, Open House on Monday, August 31, 10:00-12:00 at Central Campus and new toddler classroom at the South Campus, 421 Central Ave.
First Day of Classes for kindergarten through grade 9, Tuesday, September 1. Toddler and Pre-school classes begin Wednesday, September 9. We look forward to seeing everyone at our Open House. Bring your Sunshine 5K registrations with you.

Our opening event of the 26/27 school year was a HUGE success. We had fun and celebrated being together. Our thanks to everyone that contributed and participated. Check out the pictures here of our raffle winners.

In addition to the Pool Party we had successful parent orientations last week. It was great to see many smiling faces in our classrooms and hallways. Parent Orientations and student visits continue this week. Check the sign up genius page for more information.

Summer Camp 2026 ends this week. Our thanks to the many staff and volunteers that helped this year.

Early Childhood assistants and new staff began training this past week. All of the Infant/toddler staff will begin next week. Our Administrative Team met with the Crescent Ridge Admin Team last Thursday for mentoring. There is excitement, joy and energy in our building.
