Well it's time to show you guys one of the projects I've been working on this year! I've decided to start hosting open mic nights, but only as long as the venues hosting them are able to host all ages, not just over 21.
When I was a young up and coming musician I cut my teeth performing open mic nights at the old Charlie's Coffee Bar in Richmond. Had it not been for those events at Charlie's open to all ages I may not be where I'm at today. I want to make sure all our up and coming musicians are able to attend events to show off their developing talents and grow and get a little bit of constructive advice from an older seasoned musician if they want it.
I'm very happy that The Cedar Coffee offered us the opportunity to do this for the local community. I can't say enough about how great they are to work with and how willing they are to host events to benefit our local community. In addition to having me perform and allowing me to host these open mic nights, they are also playing host to a benefit concert in September to help raise funds for D.A. Music Studios to allow them to do some renovations to their building. DA Music Studios offers a broad range of different music lessons, from guitar, bass, drums, and singing to songwriting and even offer affordable recording options to more experienced musicians.
If you are interested in signing up to perform at the open mic night simply go to the post on the page and comment, message the page, or text Meghan and we'll get you on the list! I'm really excited for this first event and I hope to see a lot of you guys come out to support an awesome local venue and some of our up and coming area talent!!
