Congratulations Dr. Natalie Smith. (MM ‘19)
Welcome to Syracuse University!
The SU Bands are thrilled to announce that Dr. Natalie Smith will be joining us on the faculty in August as the Assistant Director of Athletic Bands!
A native of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Dr. Smith earned her Ph.D. in Music Education from Auburn University with certificates in College and University Teaching and Program Evaluation. Additionally, Dr. Smith holds a B.S. in Music Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned an M.M. in Flute Performance from East Carolina University.
For the past three years, she has served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Wake Forest University and has also taught in the Baltimore County Public Schools and at Mount St. Mary's University.
Dr. Smith will be working with the SUMB, the University Pep Band: The Sour Sitrus Society, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and teach courses in conducting and music education.

Congratulations to Dr. Dorothy Glick Maglione (BM‘ 07)
Please help us welcome Dr. Dorothy Glick Maglione to the MTD faculty as Assistant Professor of Music History/Musicology!
Musicologist and flutist Dorothy Glick Maglione is excited to be joining the faculty at Kansas State University after her tenure at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. As one of the first recipients of the Chancellor’s Doctoral Fellowship, Maglione holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of Kansas, with specializations in nineteenth-century French flute music and immigrant music and musicians of the twentieth century. She also earned her Master of Music in both Flute Performance and Musicology at KU and her Bachelor of Music in Music Education at East Carolina University. Her current research examines the intersection of immigration and music, offering an analysis of the aspects of race, ethnicity, gender, class, and religion evident in early twentieth-century concerts that occurred on Ellis Island for detained individuals.
