As we begin a new school year, we're continuing to introduce you to the Faces of Falkland... the incredible educators and staff who are dedicated to Creating Lasting Impact in the lives of our students and school community. Each member of our team plays an important role in helping our Bear Cubs learn, grow, and thrive. As we prepare to welcome our Bear Cubs back, we can't wait for you to meet even more of the people who make Falkland Elementary such a special place!
We're excited to introduce Ms. Katie Tharrington (Ms. T), our K-5 Art Teacher! Ms. T is returning for her 12th year at Falkland Elementary and brings 12.5 years of experience in education to our Bear Cub family.
One of Ms. T's favorite things about Falkland is the opportunity our small-school environment provides to really connect with students. She shares, "I love working at Falkland because we are a smaller school, therefore we are able to connect on a deeper level with less competition/distractions. Our Bear Cubs have so much potential! BEAR CUBS ROCK!!! I love our clean, accessible, beautiful campus!"
Ms. T attended East Carolina University, where she studied Art with a concentration in Printmaking and Art Education. Her love of all things nature and critters extends beyond the art room! She also holds a Master Herpetologist certification from the Amphibian Foundation and a venomous reptile certification from The Rattlesnake Conservancy.
Outside of school, Ms. T enjoys fishing, painting, critter-catching, reading manga, and gaming. And here's a fun fact that our Bear Cubs are sure to love... she lives with a 5-foot red iguana named Jethro and LOVES turtles and toads! 🦎🐢🐸
As we begin a new school year, Ms. T shares, "I am looking forward to creative expression and team-building."
We're so thankful Ms. T is part of our Bear Cub family and can't wait to see all the ways she'll continue Creating Lasting Impact this school year! ❤️🐻💙 Leave her a note of encouragement in the comments!
