Pitt County Schools has reached its highest graduation rate in more than a decade at 86.4%, while 94.3% of eligible schools met or exceeded expected growth and grade-level proficiency increased from 55.5% to 61.1%!

These results are worth celebrating and they represent the progress we’re making as we continue to and create greater opportunities for every student.

Chicod School turned a simple game into a day filled with student engagement, school spirit and FUN! Every middle school student started with a necklace and competed throughout the day, collecting beads from classmates they defeated.

The friendly competition culminated in a final showdown in front of their peers, where one student emerged as the Rock Paper Scissors Champion!

It’s all part of creating a school culture where students are connected, engaged and excited to be part of the experience; because learning and school should be fun too!

Today was a big day for our youngest learners as our Pre-K classrooms welcomed all of their students for their first full day together!

After spending the first two days getting acclimated in smaller groups, our newest students are officially settling into their classrooms, meeting new friends, and beginning their school journey.

And just like that, the countdown to graduation begins! 🎓

Dr. Lassiter spent the week visiting schools across Pitt County and seeing firsthand the excitement, smiles, learning, and connections that make the start of a school year so special.
